The Hello World Poster is meant to be a Pledge of Allegiance of sorts. Imagine children starting each day by reminding themselves of what amazing beings they are. Our kids need to know:
That they are uniquely special beings.
That they have unique gifts worth celebrating.
That they are loved.
That they are brilliant.
That they are perfect expressions of God.
There are so many societal pressures to conform and to fit in. So many times, kids are measured by someone else's standards. Often their true gifts and talents go unrecognized. I can't stress how important it is for them to celebrate who they are. How important it is for them to just be themselves and to know they are worthy without having to prove anything to anyone.
That is why this poem exists - because until kids can honor and love and celebrate and embrace the magnificent beings they are, it's pretty hard for them to shine their light into the world.
As parents and teachers, there is nothing we want more than for our kids to be happy, healthy and free to be the amazing, incredible beings they are. I believe the Hello World Poster is an important tool for letting their light shine brightly.
Reading Your Poetry & Weeping
A friend of mine casually mentioned "Hello, World" in a conversation a couple of months ago, and I was intrigued and so searched it up. I was very moved by it! I spent the whole afternoon reading your poetry and weeping!
